Q:Is it better to post an article on your own website or blog first, and then send it to an article directory (if that's permissible or standard operating procedure)? Or, does it work better to put it on the article directory first, and then revamp it and put a different iteration of the topic on our own sites? A:If it is a choice between the two, web site or article directory, I would do the article directory first, since you will then begin getting links back to your site. After you have posted them to the article directories, then put them up on your site. The thing you need to be careful about is what google calls "content mirroring" which is having the exact same article on your site that you have on the article directory. The solution is to just tweak the article on your site a bit. Change the intro or conclusion, mix around the order of the tips, add/subtract some words, etc. You want the two versions of the article to be about 20% different from each other. At the same time, don't freak out about this, because it is only a very small portion of what google looks for. So just make sure the two articles are about 20% different and forget about it, so you can concentrate on writing, posting and marketing more articles.
