A webmaster is an individual who is in charge of a certain domain on the internet. Every website that is currently in operation has a webmaster. The webmaster is someone who is contacted if there is a problem with a website or the content of the website. A webmaster can be viewed as a manager of specific areas in the Internet. Many webmasters believe that a company or individual who wishes to increase their websites foot traffic should list with a website directory. A website directory is like a phone book except instead of telephone numbers the directory has direct links to specific websites. An individual can find out any information and find a particular website in a matter of minutes by using a website directory. Someone who lists their website in either a free or paid website directory is automatically increasing the foot traffic and visibility of their website. A website directory is an organized community of websites that are listed under several different main categories and then numerous subcategories. Any type of website can be listed in a website directory. Some website directories allow a website to be listed for free while other directories charge a small fee. A paid directory usually allows a website to achieve a higher level of visibility. This is very important if a company would like to witness an increase in business and profit. A paid directory is usually more organized then a website directory. A paid directory receives more user traffic then a free directory. It is very easy to list your website with a paid directory. One only has to visit a paid directory online and submit their particular website. This can be accomplished in very little time. Most webmasters agree that by using a directory a website becomes more visible on the Internet. This is a great way for a website to become known to the general public.
