Like most of the beautiful things in life, horses are beautiful and lovely creatures. To deal with them you would need to take some precautions. There are no instances of horses intentionally hurting someone or another animal, but like it's rightly said accidents do take place. They say prevention is better than cure!! Like wise it is a good idea to know how to avoid such situations even before they could occur.
Safety in the barn is important because you will spends lots of time with your inside the barn, make sure all the equipment within the barn is stored safely. Many injuries occur from a simple rake or brush laying on the floor and causing your to trip. Remember to pick up and place everything back in its proper place.
On a regular basis the barn needs to be swept and kept clean so that there are no foreign objects like nails that could damage the horses hoof. This would also prevent your feet from getting hurt. Always remember to be in proper attire while visiting a barn, which would ensure safety for your feet. Avoid wearing sandals or open toed shoe. To protect your feet the best-suggested thing would be to wear a sneaker or shoes.
Safe distances and proper approach are one important part of safety, whenever working around the it is a good idea to keep track of how close you are in relation to the and when walking behind the always walk as close as possible to the animal, by doing this you minimize the potential for the to rear or kick you. The closer you are to the animal the less room the has to get it's leg moving to actually kick.
Remember to always lead your horse, whenever you have to go into the barn with the you should use a lead rope, this will allow you to have better control and handling of the animal. Never hook your fingers inside the rope because you could actually lose a finger if the were to suddenly pull away from you.
Most of time people get hurt around horses it is because the was spooked and was attempting to get away from whatever spooked it, so always remember when handling your or even just watching a to take basic safety precautions.
Until you become very knowledgeable about your do not attempt to put them together. Many horses do not play well together and can injure themselves or others trying to get away from the other animals.
