Antarctica is a one of a kind land that is both beautiful and brutal. It remains the only continent in the world that has never seen the face of war. However, this continent, with a land mass larger than America and Europe together, has been the scene of more violent deaths than natural ones, due to continuous low temperatures which keep it practically free of any germs.


Modern Antarctica is a study of contrasts when one considers the opposing politics that come together to work peacefully in comfortable enclosures that are a few inches from a -100-degree environment that would literally freeze them in seconds. The cold environment on Antarctica necessitates the consumption of four meals per day, but the Americans there don't gain weight, as maintaining body temperature burns calories at a ferocious rate.

It also keeps the residents up with bright sunshine 24 hours a day during the summers, and the term coined is "home of the BIG EYE" due to everyone dealing with insomnia during the season. Bombastically the people who live in the Antarctic claim the rights to being part of the 300 Degree Club. It claims the least expensive and southernmost bar of the world located at the South Pole where all drinks cost a like amount, but where even so the bill for a single night can be a great amount. From April to September, the people there experience long nights.

Even though the heartland of this continent has a 9,000-foot shield of moving ice, it is believe to hold enough oil, gas, and coal to heat the entire world. What few laws there are in Antarctica, are definitely different - they don't extradite criminals, and anyone who would consider hiding out in nine million square miles of open, broad valleys, or in 15,000 ft. ranges of mountains, would have a tough time staying alive more than a few hours in what is the most incredible vicious environment in the world.

Even so, Antarctica has the smallest crime rate of any country or nation out there. Even if a crime did happen, such as a murder, it was never reported or prosecuted. Leaving a lot of mystery behind what may or could happen here. There is no place on the continent were extradition treaties or any other statute would allow for the murderer to be charged or prosecuted.

Even though there are flags of 10 different nation here in Antarctica, not a single one has tried to exploit it's real estate. There has never been any attempts to form permanent colonies on the primitive lands of this continent. However, when compared to any other location in the world, the most complicated and technology advanced equipment is located here. There are even computers at the South Pole.

Even though most of the residents aren't not permanent members of it's society, they have the highest IQ in the world. As a matter of fact there are more people on this continent that have university degrees than simple high school diplomas. The scientific knowledge on the continent exceeds that of any university, and the climate of the research is more peaceful than can be found in any capital on earth. The detonation of nuclear warheads is expressly forbidden on the continent, which makes it the only land mass on the planet to specifically prohibit such activity.

It has the most stringent environmental protection of all the land masses. Because of the slaughtering that both sealers and whalers did nearly a century ago, you need a special type of licenses in order to kill animals. Antarctica is home to the scientific motherlode: a strictly peaceful place to perform scientific research that benefits all of us.
